baby keepsake ornaments

Hi friends,

I have found it sort of funny how many people have shared baby ornament projects with me on Facebook! However, no  matter how cute I think they are, I haven't managed to actually complete one of these ornaments .. even though I already have the supplies in my craft materials! Eh, there is 9 days until Christmas right?

If you are looking for an easy gift or a special keepsake for Baby's First Christmas then check out these ideas for inexpensive, handmade ornaments!

1) Hospital Scrapbook Ornament
Materials needed: clear ornament, ribbon, keepsake items from the hospital (ID tags, hat, bracelet, etc.)

This is a creative way to display those precious memories! See these 2 ideas from Thrifty Crafty Girl and Beauty in the Mess.

2) Handprint or Footprint Ornament
Materials needed: Plain round ornament of any color, glitter or paint, pen, ribbon

Trace your little ones foot or hand or just dip it straight into the paint. Add a personalized name and date! I think these are adorable, but fear they might be a Pinterest fail if I tried to make one!

3) Salt Dough Ornament
Materials needed: Salt, flour, water, paint, ribbon.

A tried and true favorite is to make handprints or footprints with salt dough! You could paint them or leave them blank. If you don't want to make the dough yourself, there are many very similar kits at places like Michaels. Click the link below for an easy to follow recipe.

4) "Snow Globe" Picture Ornaments
Materials: Pictures, fake snow, clear ornament, ribbon

How adorable is this ornament featuring baby's ultrasounds? You could easily replace the ultrasounds with a picture instead!

5) Scrabble Ornaments
Materials: scrabble pieces, hotglue gun, ribbon

Basically, you can use scrabble pieces for most anything! Check your local thrift stores for a cheap game that you can turn into DIY projects.

Maybe I will actually get around to making one of these this weekend! Happy crafting! :)

november snapshots

I can't believe that November is over and we are quickly approaching Christmas! Where has 2015 gone?

I have lots of snapshots from November to share with you .. and maybe a few from October!

The days of November were filled with feeding, napping, and adjusting to this new life motherhood. It seems like overnight Kynli has suddenly taken off growing!

Our first attempt required a redo!

Sweet little Kynli also celebrated being 1 month old last Wednesday!

At 1 month Kynli is super alert when she is awake, loves to eat and becomes "hangry" when you are too slow, enjoys tummy time and looking outside, and loves cuddling with Mommy and Daddy. She has also began to have a few smiles! She is not a fan of getting dressed or getting strapped into her carseat. She slept for 7 straight hours one night, but normally only wakes up once a night. At her doctor's appointment she weighed 6 lbs, 11oz and was 20.75 inches long. She's a tiny girl!

Kynli's first Halloween, spent at home cuddling!

Kynli's first bath!

Meeting her cousins Addee and Jaxon and Aunt Nikki. And of course a visit from Maw-maw and Grandpa!

Kynli's first walk at Hagan Stone Park on a beautiful Fall day. Mom and Dad needed to get out of the house! :)

Kynli's first Thanksgiving and trip to the mountains! She met more cousins and was loved on by Mimi and Papa!

Justin and I even managed to steal away for a movie date while we were home!

Kynli's first trip to church where she was a bit of a celebrity!

A few shots from Kynli's newborn photos. They were absolutely darling! April Larson Photography did a great job! My favorite's are the ones with Justin's guitar.

And lots of random moments from our days at home.

We had a to buy a bigger car because Kynli's carseat made things super, super tight!

December will be so special as we celebrate Kynli's first Christmas!

Until next time!
