what I wore wednesday: falllll!

Hi again friends,

I'm linking up today at The Pleated Poppy , Because Shannon Said So and Gracefullee Made for What I Wore Wednesday! Our beautiful Fall weather has suddenly turned very cold and blustery here in NC. Parts of NC even had several inches of snow over the weekend.

Anyway, it has been a nice change to be able to dress up for work again. For my birthday my mother in-law took me shopping and I was able to pick up several new thrifty outfits. I have been super impressed with both Plato's Closet and Belk for great teacher outfits at reasonable prices! (And of course, Target!)

Floral top: JcPenny (coupon)
Pink pants: Rue 21 (via Plato's Closet)
Sandals: Shoe Department

This is a great way to take a summer dress and turn it into a Fall staple. Plus, I love black and white stripes! This outfit would look great with a mustard cardigan, but I'm still searching for a good deal.

Dress: Target (via Goodwill)
Sweater: Target (clearance)
Scarf: Aeropostale
Boots: Rack Room

Took a little inspiration from this Pinterest post for my next outfit!

Black and white stripes for the win again!

Sweater: Target (clearance)
Skirt: Belk (clearance)

Like I mentioned in my post about Fall Fashion inspiration, I love this look from Annie Lynn's Favorite Things. It was easy to recreate with pieces I already owned,

Dress: Belk (via Plato's Closet)
Sweater: JcPenny (clearance)
Scarf: Gift

What are some of your favorite looks this Fall?

what i wore: summer!

I'm linking up today over at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!

I must confess that my daily summer wardrobe mostly consists of athletic clothes .. but when I put on "real" clothes to go out somewhere I've basically lived in white shorts this summer! I've looked and looked for some new khakis, denim and printed shorts, but I just have not found a good enough deal yet.

Maxi skirts and dresses are also super popular right now .. and for a short girl they can be hard to find!

Anyway, here's a few of my favorite summer looks so far!

 Aztec tee: Belk (clearance)
Eyelet shorts: Old Navy (clearance)
Sandals: Kohls (Kohls cash, coupon)

 Lace tank top: Target (clearance)
Maxi skirt: Cato
Sandals: Shoe Department (clearance)

Took some inspiration from Pinterest for my next outfit!

 My version:

 T-shirt: Old Navy
Maxi skirt: Cato

Tank top: Kohls (free with Kohls cash!)
Eyelet shorts: Old Navy (clearance)
Sandals: Target (gift card)

Next up is back to school shopping .. and gearing up my teacher outfits again!

what I wore + summer wishes

Today I'm linking up over at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!

There seems to be so many fashion bloggers out there whose versions of "affordable" and "inexpensive" are so very different from mine.  Spending that amount of money on clothing is just simply unrealistic for most of us. I know that I am frugal by nature and necessity, but it's also about the thrill of the hunt. I don't really pay full price for things - major sales, coupons, clearance, thrifting, that's how I shop. These outfits feature many pieces I've found at Goodwill or other thrift stores!

Chambray and black: inspired by this Pinterest find:

My version:

Top: Old Navy (sale)
Black Skinnies: Aeropostale (sale)
Flats: Payless (Clearance)

Navy and mint: Inspired by this Pinterest find:

Never would have put these colors together on my own, but I love them!
My version:

 Top: Aeropostale (sale, coupon)
Mint skinnies: Kohls (clearance)
Sandals: Shoe Depot

Chambray and white pants .. inspiration is all over the place! Love how chambray goes with anything!

White skinnies: Old Navy (clearance, coupon)
Wedges: Payless (BOGO, coupon)

Polka dotted dress and cardigan .. and I forgot to take a picture while I was wearing it!
I love to pair red with black and white.

Dress: Derek Heart (via Value Village Half Off Sale)
Cardigan: Target (clearance)
Shoes: Goodwill

Causal Friday night ..the back of this tank top is really pretty! Wish you could see it!

Top: Kohls (Clearance, coupon)
Jeans: Aeropostale (sale)
Sandals: Teva's (gift)

Meh on the picture .. but dressy top and white jeans for church.

Top: Kohls (clearance, coupon)
White Skinnies: Old Navy (clearance, coupon)
Wedges: New from Payless

A total Goodwill outfit .. Love it!

Tank top: Gap (via Goodwill)

Wedges: New from Payless
Necklace: Origami Owl (gift)

And one more thrifted outfit!

Skirt: Charlotte Russe (via Goodwill)
Wedges: New from Payless

I also have my eye on a few essentials this summer .. as the budget allows of course!

 1) Peach crops - seen at Old Navy! Just waiting for a sale. Doesn't seem to be online.
2) Nautical striped purse from Payless - currently on sale and a coupon.
3) Gladiator sandals - found the ones I want at Kohls .. super comfy but not online.
4) Printed chino shorts -  found coral ones with anchors on them at Kohls, also not online.
 5) Not pictured- but also in need of a light gray v-neck  .. from Target! :)

Happy shopping!

what i wore: spring-ish looks

Welcome to what I wore Wednesday spring-ish edition! I'm linking up today over at The Pleated Poppy.

I say spring-ish because the weather has been a bit ridiculous .. warm, then cold, then rainy, really windy, the warm .. and that's all in the same day! I've been loving lots of 3/4 length sleeve shirts and boyfriend jeans. I really think boyfriend jeans were invented for short people like me ... the are perfect because pants are always a tad too long anyway, even when I buy them in a short! Also, wedges have become my favorite go to this season! I think they make me look taller??

Without further ado, here are some outfits from the last few weekends:

Top: Kohls (Mudd)
Jeans: Aeropostale
Boots: Target (clearance!)

Wore this to church on Sunday! I simply can not do the black leggings thing .. I feel naked .. so I've opted for some black skinny jeans!
Top: Kohls (clearance!)
Jeans: Aeropostale
Wedges: Payless

Out to dinner on a Saturday night! I wish you could see the back of this shirt .. it is all lace and one of my favorites.
Top: Kohls (SO)
Jeans: Aeropostale (same as above)
Wedges: Payless
Scarf: Cents of Style (I LOVE THIS SCARF AND WANT EVERY COLOR!)

A rainy movie night with the youth at church!
Baseball Tee: Forever 21
Jeans: Kohls (clearance!)
Rainboots: Christmas a few years ago

Movie date with the hubby!
Top: Old Navy
Jeans: Aeropostale (but different from above)
Wedges: Payless

I had actually seen this top featured on The Northeast Girl (below) and thought hmmm, that looks familiar. I knew I had seen it somewhere and Old Navy was the place! I watched for it to go on sale and snagged it for $10.

I know, I am missing in the accessory department. For a long time I didn't like necklaces but I may be changing my mind about them? It's funny how our style is always evolving!

Until next time!
