oreo dirt cake .. yum!

A few weeks ago my hubby requested Oreo Dirt Cake for his birthday rather than a traditional birthday cake. It sounded great to me because this is one of my favorite deserts! It is a little more time consuming to make, but worth it every once in a while!

You will need:

1 package of Oreos (off brand works too, you can't taste the difference)
1/2 cup of butter
8 oz cream cheese
2 8oz containers of Kool-Whip
1 package instant chocolate pudding

Directions:

1. Crush cookies and mix with butter. Pit 1/2 cup aside for later. Press the remaining Oreos in a 13x9 pan firmly. (I use my food processor to do this. You can also place them in a large ziplock and use something heavy to pound on it.)

2.Mix cream cheese with 8 oz of Kool-Whip using a hand mixer. Spread on top of cookie crust.

3. Prepare pudding according to directions and pour on top of cream cheese layer. Refrigerate for 5 mins.

4. Spread the other 8 oz of Kool-Whip on the pudding layer.

5. Sprinkle the remaining Oreo crumbs on the top.

6. Refrigerate for several hours or over night if possible.

Enjoy this sweet treat!
