ice, ice, baby and a valentine's date

It has been a strange, but good week.

It began with Mother Nature sending us another winter storm .. this time in the form of mainly ice! There was some big beautiful flakes involved too, but I had never experienced a true ice storm before. It appeared to be snow until you looked further and realized it was crunchy! We ended up having 3 days off from school and when we returned on Friday I only had 6 students! Needless to say lesson plans were scraped and we made art projects and played all day.

And of course this weekend was Valentine's Day! My sweet husband had my house clean and even made me desert when I got home on Friday!

I brought home this surprise for my Valentine!

This desert was seriously to die for! It is Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake and it tastes just like warm cookie dough. Check out the recipe!

I am  not really into the chocolate and flowers thing- I would much rather just spend time together. So Saturday we took a trip to the mall and then spent the evening at Medieval Times. And of course if you know me then you know I found a deal for us to be able to go! Normally the price is over $50 a person .. but Sam's has tickets for $20 a piece! Score! The food was tasty (an entire chicken ya'll, and you eat with your hands) and the entertainment was fun!

I know many people bash Valentine's Day, and even though we may not celebrate with the traditional, cliche elements, I am all for a day that is focused on showing appreciation and love for each other. It is so important that couples still date each other and spend time together!

We also have been celebrating and praying about the beginning of the next step's for Justin in his journey to becoming a pastor! Your prayers would be appreciated as well in the coming weeks as he meets with various church's and placement decisions are made!

Make it a great week! :)
