Vacation Recap: Charleston SC

Whoa! It is the last day of July! Summer please slow down! 1 week from now I will be back at work!

This week is full of lazy(ish) days and busy evenings! My hubby's youth are having activities every day this week, a sort of farewell to summer. Monday we volunteered at a food pantry, last night we went to a Brave's game, today we are going skating, tomorrow is water wars, and Friday is a movie and ice cream. Fun stuff! Hubby is also currently working on an update to our fireplace... more on that when he is finished!

But enough of that. My purpose today was to share some photos from our vacay!

Our vacation was of course done on a budget. And we only went over by $19! I was impressed. I was armed with coupons and Groupons!

The first thing to know when planning a vacation to the Charleston area is that you have to pay for parking virtually everywhere. You pay downtown, you pay at the beach. However, depending on where your hotel is, you can hop on the free trolly and get to just about everywhere you might need in the downtown area!

We just stayed at a simple hotel since there are only 2 of  us. I even used a coupon from this website.

Last Monday we set off EARLY in the morning for Charleston, SC. When we got there we went straight to Folly Beach! We explored the pier and downtown. After checking into our hotel in Charleston, we walked downtown for dinner. We ate Joe's Pasta with this Groupon!

Tuesday we spent the entire day at Folly Beach and made a pit stop at the Angel Oak Tree. This tree is HUGE. And ANCIENT! After dinner we enjoyed the sunset over the river.

Wednesday we traveled downtown to the Charleston City Market. Wednesday night we went on a Ghost Tour! It was really fun and spooky! We used this Groupon and I would definitely recommend this company!

Thursday we checked out Patriot's Point and the USS Yorktown, which was used during WWII. In the afternoon we spent 4 hours kayaking along the Shem Creek and Charleston Bay. We rented a tandem kayak from Nature Adventure Outfitters. We finished our evening with dinner using another Groupon at a wing place! We love wings!

Friday we got up really early again and enjoyed the sunrise on the beach. We visited Kiwah Island for several hours and then stopped at Tanger Outlets before heading home.We didn't get home until pretty late, but its just the two of us!

There are a TON of things to do in the Charleston area. There are numerous islands to check out, water activities, shopping, tours, plantations, and more restaurants than I've ever seen. We couldn't do it all, so we had to pick and choose! I am looking forward to returning again one day!

And finally, here are some photos from our trip!

Until next time. :)
