my favorite time of day

About 2 weeks ago the hubby and I stole away for an evening outdoors. We spent some time biking on The Path System (a different section then we had done before) and then hiked up Arabia Mountain for the sunset. I don't know why we don't go more often .. it is probably my favorite local hiking destination.

A few photos from biking and hiking up the mountain. The weather was beautiful, the company was my favorite person, and the time of day, well, we all know how I love dusk and taking in the peaceful moments of a sunset.

Oh dusk, my favorite time of day. I love to see how God will choose to paint His canvas as another day comes to a close.  I feel so small in God's vast, infinite beauty. It reminds me to slow down and to enjoy the small moments. And dusk passes so quickly -- the colors fade and change and evolve in a matter of minuets. The sun dips below the horizon as the world slips into sleep and it feels peaceful, quiet. It is a chance to reflect on the day that has passed and to prepare for a new one. It reminds me that I will have another chance tomorrow to start over new.

"There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they are absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them."

-Jo Walton

"And yet day and night meet fleetingly at twilight and dawn," he said, lowering his face voice again and narrowing his eyes and moving his head a quarter of an inch closer to hers. "And their merging sometimes affords the beholder the most enchanted moments of all the twenty four hours. A sunrise or a sunset can be ablaze with brilliance and arouse all of the passion, all of the yearning, in the soul of the beholder."

-May Balogh, A Summer to Remember

that's all for today friends.
